As snow cover disappears and temperatures warm, adult ticks that survived the winter will emerge from their cold-weather homes beneath the leaf litter and start looking for blood. Tick experts can’t say for sure whether this year will be worse than last when it comes to the number of disease-carrying ticks crawling around, but most agree it doesn’t really matter.
