A large insect spotted on Perdido Key reminded one of our Channel 3 viewers of the invasive murder hornets seen on the west coast of the United States. Eddie Thompson sent us his photos and asked for help identifying the insect. He was concerned it could be dangerous, especially for children. We reached out to horticulture agent Beth Bolles, with the Escambia County Extension Office. She identified the inch-and-a-half long insect as a Cicada killer wasp.
