Officials said one person was exposed to a raccoon that tested positive for rabies in Charleston County. According toDepartment of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), the animal was found nearSavannah Highway and Farmfield Avenue in West Ashley on May 21. The raccoon was sent to DHEC’s labs for testing on May 22. Officials confirmed the animal had rabies two days later.
