Eastern Ohio a hotspot for ticks, experts say

Eastern Ohio is a hotspot for ticks right now, and if you find one on you or your pets, there’s a program available to send them in for testing. The black legged tick, also known as the deer tick, is the most common and it carries the vector for Lyme Disease, according to Dan Lima, Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator at the OSU Extension Office. “The deer tick is very active here in Belmont County,” he said. He said it can jump from livestock to companion animals or humans.
