Millions of flies infest Wood River Junction neighborhood from nearby DEM leased property

If living through the pandemic isn’t bad enough, a local neighborhood has been infested with flies. Millions of them fly in from a property owned by the State of Rhode Island, leased to a Connecticut farmer in Wood River Junction. Within seconds of stopping the NBC 10 News car, flies were everywhere. Just off Church Street in Wood River Junction, the initial source of the problem: 95 tillable acres on three parcels leased by Connecticut dairy farmer George Palmer to grow corn, according to DEM.
